My atelier/shop is situated in a listed building – an old house from 1735 in central Copenhagen. This is where I’ve been creating jewellery for past 10 years now and I’ve got three other goldsmiths keeping me company here. You’re always welcome to pass by, say hi and take a look at our rings, earrings and other pieces of jewellery.

FROM GOLD GRANULES TO JEWELLERY

There are many steps from standing with a handful of fine raw gold granules to holding a sparkling piece of jewellery. I alloy, melt, roll, bend, forge, solder, file, smuggle, grind, polish, setting gems and a whole lot of things in between. I love every single process – and also to hold the result in my hands.

The square shaped ring is a design I have worked with since I started. It is originally designed for people whose fingers are swollen due to Rheumatoid arthritis, but actually it fits any hand better than a round ring and is a really comfortable design – and I just love the shape. It has become an all time favorite – not just to me but also my customers.

ABOUT GOLD, GEMSTONE WEIGHT AND MUCH MORE …

Gold

24K gold – also known as Au and no. 79 in the periodic system – is in its’ pure form the most malleable and ductile material known. Gold is always weighed in carats. 1K is 1/24 purity - so 24K gold (24/24) equals pure gold. Gold jewellery should always be stamped by the manufacturer as a guarantee of the authenticity of the jewellery. I primarily work with 18K gold. 18K gold is stamped “750” because 750/1000 of the alloy is pure gold.

My gems

I try to always work with gems of which I know the origin. Gems are weighed in the unit of mass called carat. 1 carat corresponds to 200 milligrams. The hardness of the gem is measured according to the Mohs’ scale and is important for the durability of your jewellery. Read more about Mohs’ scale here. I personally love sapphires – a variety of the mineral corundum. The sapphire is quite sturdy and solid and placed at 9 on Mohs’ scale. I prefer the natural-colored sapphires from Wennick-Lefèvre. Another favorite for my jewellery is the gemstone tourmaline. Tourmaline is a mineral at 7-7.5 on the scale. My favorite is the bright green - only surpassed by the extremely expensive Paraiba tourmaline that almost has color like the Maldivian archipelago.

Diamonds

The world of diamonds is fascinating – and it’s a science. Diamonds come in different colors and shapes and all price ranges. The diamond is the absolute hardest of the gemstones. Usually I work with tw/vvs brilliants for my jewellery. Brilliants are also diamonds, they get their name from the cut. I’d love to reveal the world of diamonds to you, tell about the four C’s - color, clarity, cut and carat – and order gems for you if you have specific wishes.

NEWS FROM THE SHOP

Every once in a while, we fill our champagne “flutes” and invite our customers to stop by for a glass of bubbles, snacks and special offers. The occasion might also be that there are new designs in the vitrines or that I just want to share the joy of the recent beautiful pearls that have reached my atelier. Sign up and stay tuned.
